The first Macau International Film Festival held a press conference in Beijing. Director You Xiaogang personally showed his support. Now the film festival committee is recruiting films from around the world, the deadline will be November 15 2009. Reportedly the festival will have five different award categories and will take place once a year.
The first Macau film festival will take place between December 26 and January 1. The film festival competition will have six awards and the jury chair has already been confirmed as Ge You. The film festival consultant You Xiaogang pointed out, the Macau film festival has three noteworthy points: Chinese cultural base, international cultural exchange and certain commercial value. The committee revealed that the competition will have Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best New Comer awards.
The Macau film and television media association chief and film festival committee chair Xu Chaoping expressed that the film festival will display Macau's advantage of East meets West and focused on excellent films around the world. During the film festival events like international film screenings, international film, television and animation product convention, action film forum, hero legend international fight, award and closing ceremony. The opening ceremony will feature a parade of films in competition.
