Janice Vidal (Wai Lan) two nights ago attended a Metro Radio charity karaoke event. Janice revealed that she has already begun work on her film. Although she did not know Chinese and had to rely on transliteration to remember her lines, it was not too difficult. The most difficult was to express emotions in front of the cameras. She even thanked veteran Ti Lung who gave her constant reminders that benefited her a lot.

Wai Lan and Janice Man Wing Shan will team with film industry veteran Ti Lung on the Leon Lai Ming invested romance. Earlier they rehearsed with Ti Lung a father and daughter argument scene.

During the rehearsal, Wai Lan not only had no fear of veteran Ti Lung but also kept the waterworks flowing. Finally she was able to finish the scene in one take. The director praised, "You did pretty well!"

Janice Man due to numerous film experience was convincing as a rebellious girl. With one film under his belt, Aarif also was involved in his performance. Afterward, Ti Lung graded them. "Janice Man has a good memory but her pronunciation is somewhat unclear. She also needs improvement in her mark; Wai Lan has a lot of potential. She controls her emotional explosiveness very well, only that she has a little overseas speech manner!"

Wai Lan humble expressed, "Actually I was a little nervous, but Brother Lung is a great actor. He not only was able to bring me into character but also taught me a lot!" Wai Lan honestly said that she did not read Chinese. With the script full of transliteration she spent twice as much time as other actors. Wai Lan everyday kept reading her script, practicing her expressions in an attempt to become a professional artist; Janice Man also honestly said that she will accept criticism humbly and work hard on honing her acting.

[2009.10.26] LEON LAI TURNS FROM PAUPER TO PRINCE

courtesy of singtao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

The New Year film BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) will be released on December 28. This film features many Best Actors, one of whom is Leon Lai Ming who plays a beggar. His costume is very dirty and can be considered one of the "dirtiest" in recent Chinese film history. After make up, Lai Ming was unrecognizable even to the crew. As soon as the make up was applied Lai Ming was in character as he automatically lay on the ground to become a "beggar".

However, in the latest production footage, Lai Ming turns from a beggar back to a rich kid -- day and night from his previous beggar look. Peter Chan Ho Sun even says that he is "just like a gentleman, well mannered to the extreme." Actually Lai Ming in the film originally is a rich kid. Because he and his father both fall for Michelle Reis (Lee Ka Yun), he is depressed all the time, loses everything and becomes a beggar. On the eve of the battle, due to a promise, he bathes and changes to return to his rich kid form.

Chan Ho Sun pays a lot of attention to Lai Ming's rich kid look as he is present during the entire costume fitting. He wants to see how the beggar turns into a rich kid. Chan Ho Sun points out that although this story takes place in the end of the Qin Dynasty and early Republic era, Leon's costume is well ahead of its time. Later Chan Ho Sun even removes his own glasses and asks Lai Ming to put them on. He says that he definitely looks like John Lennon. Lai Ming immediately puts them on and even sits in a mediation pose to make the entire set laugh. Lai Ming in the film guards the most important defense in the 24 hour assassination -- Mother Sun's stairs. He singlehandedly takes on 100 killers in a eight minute long scene. Director Teddy Chan Tak Sum in the end is reluctant to edit any of it and decides to keep it untouched in the film. Aside from Lai Ming's hair that reaches his waist, others like Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Wang Xueqi are all "bald".

The film's cast earlier attended a press conference at the Shaolin Temple. The Abbot prepared five valuable ancient swords for the leads. After Wa Jai accepted it he removed it from its sheath, putting not only Fan Bingbing but also Tse Ting Fung and Wu Jing under his spell as they were envious of Wa Jai's natural heroic. Wa Jai said, "When I received this ancient sword from the Abbot, he told me not to treat this sword like a weapon but as something peaceful. That way I would cherish it even more. The Abbot's words seem to tell everyone to learn to let go and not to be stubborn with anything."
